Susannah Savage is a PhD student at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Her research looks into cultural and ethnic identity among slaves within the French Empire. She is also the Nico Colchester fellow at The Economist, where she writes about a range of topics and regions but focuses particularly on European politics.
