Sean Matthews is Head of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Nottingham's Malaysia campus. He read English at the University of Cambridge, where he also gained his PhD. Matthews has been increasingly involved in the study of the Southeast Asian public sphere, with attention to Malaysian cultural politics. His other areas of expertise include 20th century and contemporary literature and theory, cultural studies, internationalization and transnational higher education.
