Sasanka Perera is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the South Asian University. He is the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. His research interests include: politics of civil society organizations in governance and democratization; issues and problems of urbanization; dynamics of education and socialization in eradicating or promoting sectarian conflicts; and political violence. He holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
