Justin Zobel is the Head of the University of Melbourne’s Department of Computing and Information Systems. After completing his PhD at Melbourne in 1991, for many years he was based at RMIT University, where he led the Search Engine group. In the research community, Zobel is best known for his role in the development of algorithms for efficient web search, and also works in bioinformatics and fundamental algorithms. He has long-standing interests in academic conduct, plagiarism and research methods, and he is the author of three texts on graduate study skills.
