Gary M. Feinman

Gary Feinman is the MacArthur Curator of Mesoamerican, Central American and East Asian Anthropology. Gary presently co-directs two international archaeological field projects. His long-time study region is Mesoamerica, where he currently is conducting excavations at Lambityeco. Gary’s diverse research includes Oaxaca effigy vessels, Maya Blue pigment production, and obsidian sourcing from San José, Belize, providing insights into political transitions in the Maya region. His experience in settlement patterns enabled Gary to serve as co-director of the Coastal Shandong Archaeological Settlement Pattern Project, in China. Feinman is the co-curator of the Field Museum's Ancient Americas exhibition, the Cyrus Tang Hall of China and the Chocolate exhibition, which is now on a global tour.
