Atef Said is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Illinois Chicago. Before transitioning to academia, Atef was a human rights attorney and researcher in Egypt from 1995 to 2004. He is currently putting the final touches to his latest book, Revolution Squared: The Egyptian Uprising of 2011 Between Historical Possibilities and Counter-Revolutionary Containments (Duke University Press).
