As we wind down the old year and ring in the new, it is time for some reflections. Like any year, 2012 was packed with events, some of which will go down as historic while others will fade away with time. For Fair Observer, it is a time to thank everyone in our team, our contributors and our readers for taking us another step forward.
The past year has confirmed that our community is our greatest source of strength. For years, the world has assumed that rigorous analysis of global issues is possible only if there is a huge editorial staff that keeps an eagle’s eye on world events. At Fair Observer, we have opened our doors to everyone. If you have insights about any issue then you can send your analysis to us. As long as your analysis meets our editorial guidelines, we publish your article. We are open to everyone across borders, disciplines and ideologies, and want to be the place where the best minds share their thoughts about what is going on around us and where you come to educate yourself, find inspiration and make sense of the world.
We will remember 2012 for the formal recognition by the UN General Assembly of non-member state status for Palestine, the emphatic reelection of President Barack Obama and the possible discovery of the Higgs boson, an elementary particle that has got physicists around the world more excited than five year olds in a candy shop. As the clock ticks on and we prepare to welcome 2013, we share with you our best articles for 2012 and look forward to hearing your thoughts.
