In January, Fair Observer took a close look at China. David Mahon takes a deep dive into the Chinese economy, challenging pessimists with evidence that the manufacturing giant remains strong. Patrik Meyer gives an up-to-date and on-the-ground perspective on Xinjiang, inviting us to revise the ideas we have about the region which might be outdated. And we look across the strait with David Kuehn to Taiwan, where this East Asian democracy held a presidential election under the threat of Chinese subversion.
Taiwan is not the only country to be holding elections this year; in fact, 2024 will see national elections in as many as 76 countries.
