Fair Observer Monthly is a chance for you to sit down, look back and think about the month past. A month lasts 28 to 31 days, a suitably appropriate time to take stock of the world. We publish daily on our website and we select some of our best articles every month in our e-magazine. We will give you context and multiple perspectives on issues that matter. We will inform and educate you. Fair Observer Monthly does what we promise: make sense of the world.
Our regular feature, which ran for four years as The Daily Devil’s Dictionary, moved to a weekly format in 2022. This collection of ironic takes on the discourse of public personalities offers original commentary on the themes that dominated the news during what turned out to be a highly eventful year.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine in February set the tone for high drama. By the end of the year what Russian President Vladimir Putin announced to be a “special military operation” had clearly become a prolonged proxy war between nuclear powers. This war’s implications went far beyond the question of how Ukraine should be governed and by whom.
The broad themes presented and deconstructed in the book include education, democracy, law, corruption, international politics, propaganda, the strange culture of the US, Beltway politics, and, of course, the Russia-Ukraine War.
